Castle Hedingham Parish Council and Burial Board

Report of the meeting of the Parish Council of Castle Hedingham held on Wednesday 19th April 2006 issued by the clerk

David SeamanTribute to David Seaman – The Chairman paid tribute to Councillor David Seaman who had sadly died  since the last meeting.   David had been a Parish Councillor for over thirty years  and was a well known figure in the community.  He was always very conscientious in bringing parishioners' concerns to the attention of the Parish Council so they could be resolved and will be greatly missed. A minute’s silence was held in his memory.

Youth Council Report – Mr Barnes reported on the Youth Council’s activities which have been mainly focused on their official launch on 28th April.  Councillors were all invited to attend.  They have a fund raising Battle of the Bands planned for later in the year.  They are going to hold a logo and motto competition in Hedingham School and the two Hedingham Primary schools.  They plan to invite the police to a meeting in the near future to discuss anti-social behaviour problems. Mr Barnes was thanked for his report.

Activity Day – Braintree District Council have confirmed that this year’s Activity day will be held on Thursday 24th August at the Memorial Hall.

Planning Comments

Application 06/00629/FUL Conversion of existing building to create three separate dwellings - The Old De Vere Primary School, Queen Street, Castle Hedingham – The Parish Council agreed that this is a sympathetic and acceptable proposal and it is pleasing that the existing building is being preserved.  However the Parish Council does have concerns regarding access to and from  the development and the problems already experienced with traffic at this junction would be exacerbated further.  The Parish Council would also like to be assured that they will be no later intensification of the site and the designated gardens remain as gardens.

Application 06/00496/FUL – Erection of single storey rear extension - Holly House, 84 Nunnery Street, Castle Hedingham – No objections but the Parish Council would like to be reassured that the extension is to be of brick construction and not weather boarded.

331 Bus – It was noted that the 331 service to Sudbury has been extended to end of May while Essex County Council decide whether to adopt the route.  It is very likely that the service will be adopted with some minor amendments.
