Report of the meeting of the
Parish Council of Castle Hedingham held on Wednesday, 11th April 2007,
issued by the clerk
Presentation to Mr Hood
– It was noted that this is the last meeting Mr Hood will
attend as a Parish Councillor as he is not seeking re-election.
The Chairman presented Mr Hood with a framed certificate recognising
his outstanding contribution to the community during his time as a
Parish Councillor. Particular appreciation was expressed for his
work leading the Community Transport Project. Mr Hood thanked the
Parish Council for its gift.
Parish Council Elections
– Eight nominations had been received by the District Council for
the nine vacancies in this Parish. The election will be therefore be
uncontested and no poll will take place.
Highways Matters - It was noted
that there are still problems in Kirby Hall Road and Rosemary Lane. Mrs
Scattergood had spoken to County Councillor Finch who had agreed to
take this matter forward. The following items will be reported to
Essex County Council Highways: condition of the verge near the cemetery
and a pot hole near a drain cover in Nunnery Street. It was noted that
Essex County Council are planning verge improvements throughout the
county.
Community Warden Report –
Mr Walls was welcomed to the meeting and reported to the Parish
Council various matters he has successfully tackled within the
village. The Parish Council were pleased to note that he had was
able to report a positive outcome to an antisocial behaviour
problem. The Parish Council expressed its thanks for the very
positive impact the work of the Community Wardens have in this
community.
Planning Comments
The Parish Council had no objections to the following application - 07/00489/FUL & 07/00490/LBC
– Replacement of existing window with double doors in rear bay
and new balcony and stair access to serve first floor function room
–The Bell Inn, St James Street
Keep Clear Marking, Church Lane
– The Parish Council had received a letter from a Parishioner
asking for the ‘Keep Clear’ sign to be reinstated at the
top of the access to Ruffles Yard, highlighting access problems
experienced by an ambulance recently. The Clerk had written to
Essex County Council and the County Councillor enclosing a copy of the
letter once again requesting these markings are reinstated. The
parishioner had been advised of the action taken.
